Policies & Procedures
The YMCA of Austin has a number of policies and procedures in place to help make our Y as healthy, safe and efficient as possible for our staff and members. Classes canceled by the Y due to instructor illness will be rescheduled for make-up if possible. Classes cancelled due to inclement weather will not be rescheduled. Absences by members/participants will not result in any rescheduling.
Refunds & Credits
If a program is canceled by the Y, all enrollees will receive a full refund of program fees. If a participant withdraws from a program before the first week of classes, a full program credit will be issued. If a participant withdraws after the 1st week of class, no credit will be issued. Classes canceled due to inclement weather will not result in any refund or credit of the class fee. Absences by members will not result in a refund or credit. Membership fees are non-refundable.
Winter Weather Announcements
For information about closings and delays due to weather, tune in to FM100, 1480 AM, KTTC or KAAL-TV6
Incase of severe winter weather we will follow Austin Public School cancellations for our classes and programs with our plan:
If Austin Public Schools are TWO HOURS LATE, we will have NO Group Fitness classes or programming until noon. NO MORNING KIDS KOVE.
If Austin Public Schools are DISMISSED EARLY, we will have NO Group Fitness classes and programs will be canceled through the end of the day. The Afterschool Program WILL BE CANCELED as well. NO EVENING KIDS KOVE.
If Austin Public Schools are CLOSED; all Group Fitness classes and programming WILL BE CANCELED. KIDS KOVE IS CLOSED & School-Age Child Care is CLOSED.
If a No-School Day is previously scheduled or inclement weather falls on a weekend; we will post any cancellations or closures by 6am the day of.
In the best interest of our Members, our facility will be OPEN for most winter weather. In the off chance that we have SEVERE weather, our Executive Director will make the call to CLOSE the facility.
Contact a Y staff person immediately if there is an accident, injury or unusual incident. We are here to assist you. However, please be advised that the Y does not carry public health or accident insurance. All individuals participate at their own risk.
Schedules & Registration
The Y reserves the right to alter schedules or cancel classes without notice in order to better meet the needs of YMCA members and participants. No registrations will be taken over the phone. Registrations may be done online at www.ymca-austin.org or at the Front Desk.
Y programs and events are often photographed and videotaped for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be included in promotional materials, please indicate this to the Y event and/or staff.
Brief use of cell phones is allowed in the lobby. Cell phone use is not allowed in workout areas, locker rooms, swimming pool and program areas.
Use of recorders, cameras, cell phone cameras or any other visual recording devices is not allowed within the YMCA without the express consent of the Executive Director.
All returned checks and bank drafts will be assessed a $15 processing fee in addition to any bank fees associated with the return.
Your child’s safety is our top priority. That is why we have established an abuse prevention program, and run background checks on all of our employees and volunteers. Appropriate shirts, shorts and footwear are required during exercise in the workout rooms and gym. Sports bras alone are not permitted for women and shirts are required for all males. Proper swimming suits are required when using the pool.
Lost & Found
The Y is not responsible for lost/stolen property while using the Y facility or programs. We do keep any lost/found items at the Front Desk for a limited time.
Code of Conduct
The YMCA OF AUSTIN is a membership organization that values personal responsibility, honesty, mutual respect and non-violence. In joining, members agree to Y policies and are expected to abide by its rules. We ask that all individuals act appropriately at all times while in our facility or participating in Y programs. Please do not hesitate to notify a staff person if you need assistance. The Y will investigate all reported incidents. Suspension and/or termination of Y membership privileges may result from any violation of the Code of Conduct.
ADHERENCE TO YMCA RULES
Not following YMCA polices and procedures is grounds for membership termination without refund.
It is necessary to present your membership ID card for admittance to the Y. If a member forgets his/her card, the member must verify membership with the Front Desk staff. Any member who lends his/her card or assists a non-member in unauthorized use of the facility subjects their membership to revocation.
Membership Replacement Card
Members may replace lost cards at the Front Desk. There is a $5 fee to replace a lost card.
The YMCA of Austin has Wi-Fi Guest Wireless available in the lobby.
Parking is available in lots directly north and east of the Y. Parking lots are for use by members while using the facility. All-day parking is strictly prohibited.
Rental lockers are provided with membership to locker room A. Members utilizing locker room B may bring in their own lock for day-use when they are using the facilities.
Children (Grades 1st and under) must be accompanied by a supervising adult while using the facility, unless they are participating in a registered and supervised program.
Youth Pick-Up for Non-Members
Non-Member parents or guardians picking up youth participating in Y programming or events must sign in at the guest book at the Front Desk. Front Desk staff will then either radio for the child or let the parent/guardian through the gate to pick–up their child.
The YMCA OF AUSTIN is a part of the nationwide YMCA visiting member program which allows our members to use participating YMCAs across the country for free when they are traveling or visiting friends and family. Please review this document and call the membership desk at other Y’s for details and possible rates.
Out of Town Guests
Out to town guests must pay the daily rate listed below. There is an additional fee for upgraded locker room A services. All guests are required to present a photo ID and sign a release waiver. If a guest is under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian is required to sign the release waiver.

English as a Second Language
If you or someone you know is interested in Y membership and/or programs but language is a barrier, please contact our Member Experience Director and we will connect with a
translator in the community to help communicate information about Y membership and programs.
Special Needs Policy
Every person, regardless of special need, is welcome to register for Y programs. At the time of registration, if the participants particular needs appear not to be met by our standard program, a meeting will take place between the participant, parent/guardian and the supervising Program Director. At this meeting, the participants needs will be detailed and a written plan generated indicating what changes in program, routine or setting would accommodate those needs.
