Active Older Adults



The YMCA of Austin offers several free classes for our Active Older Adults (A.O.A.) looking for low impact physical fitness activities that improve their health and well-being. People of all ability and fitness levels can participate. Coffee and socializing follow each class session in the seating area near the Wellness Center.

Water Classes

Monday, 7:45-8:35am : Shallow Water
Monday, 8:35-9:25am : Deep Water

Tuesday, 7:45-8:35am : Shallow Water
Tuesday, 8:35-9:25am : Deep Water
Tuesday, 6:00-6:50pm : H2O Fit

Wednesday, 7:45-8:35am : H2O Zumba
Wednesday, 8:35-9:25am : Deep Water


Friday, 7:45-8:35am : Shallow Water
Friday, 8:35-9:25am : Deep Water

Our water exercise classes emphasize flexibility, enhance cardio-respiratory fitness and soothe joint and muscle pain.  Class is held in shallow water.  Attendees do not need to know how to swim.  Participants do not need to sign up for class. Just show up ready to be active and socialize.

Land Classes

Monday, 8:00-8:55 am – Yoga/Strength

Tuesday, 8:00-8:55 am – Pilates

Wednesday, No Scheduled Class

Thursday, 8:00-8:55am – Yoga

Friday, 8:00-8:55am – Step/Line Dance

All classes are located in the Fitness Studio and begin with a warm-up.  Warm-up is followed by 20 minutes of activity and finishes with muscle strengthening and stretching exercises.   Everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace.  Participants do not need to sign up for classes.  Just show up ready to be active and socialize.  Try one class or come to them all!  If you have any questions about Active Older Adult  fitness classes, contact Director of Healthy Living Katie Bielefeld at 507.433.1804 or kbielefeld@ymca-austin.org
